A FEW WAYS OF COMING BACK TO THE SAME

"burning life at both ends"

1.
Take a match out of its box, strike it against the lighting strip on the side.

2. Transfer the match to your left hand (if you are fight-handed) while tilting the lit tip downwards so the flame consumes the unburnt wood, then tilt it horizontally and wait until the flame burns three-quarters of the match.

3.
At the same time, wet the thumb and index finger of your free hand (right or left or either if you are ambidextrous.)

4.
As soon as the flame is almost out, take the end of the burnt match in your wet fingers and hold it upright so the flame blackens the other end.
